As a neuroscientist, my research employed behavioral, functional MRI, and magnetoencephalography methods to determine how our brains handle different aspects of music and speech:
Processing and correcting for (sometimes) unexpected pitch changes during singing
Comparing pitch changes that are important for music and speech
Voice recognition

Currently, I am the Chief Scientist for Communication and Engagement Strategy for The Collective for Psychiatric Neuroengineering. Previously, I was a full-time scientific editor at Nature Neuroscience for 10 years, who evaluated manuscripts in cognitive and systems neuroscience, social neuroscience, neuroimaging and transcranial techniques, and network science.
